My Patterdales

My male patterdale is from Randy Fox. He is out of Fox's Mickey and Fox's Cedar. My female was a free gift from my friend Doug Nirider. She is a double bred Boudreux's Rocky dog. Both of my dogs will go 19-20 lbs. I have been through some dogs that did not pan out. I have to have dogs that will not only go anywhere, but finish the job when they get there. Some dogs will finish the job, but will not go where they need to go. Other dogs will go anywhere, but will not finish the job. It took a little while, but I have found two dogs that will do just that. Different strokes for different folks. Some dogs that just go down a hole and bay, are great for some people, but not for me.
I have had dogs my entire life and most have been bulldogs or terriers. I think I was 9 when I got my first bulldog. I have always enjoyed hunting with my dogs and have always admired dogs that would do what they were bred to do to the max. When you have a dog that will stay put until the job is finished, no matter how hurt, or tired they are, it brings a special smile to your face, knowing that he did his job like he was bred to do. Alot of dogs do not, no matter how they are bred.
I live in central Texas. Here we have alot of hogs, raccoons, grey foxes, and coyotes. My dogs mainly hunt above ground, but have been to ground when they get a chance. We mostly hunt racoons, but they have hunted hogs, foxes and 1 coyote. They have been on many raccoons together and single, and have always taken care of the job. Grey foxes no problem. Coyotes, I dont recommend for patterdale people after the one we ran into. He was a young yote that went to ground and it was a war for my little dogs. They never quit, but I thought I had lost my male. The patts I have are great wild hog dogs. They can get in the brush and have stopped small hogs up to 120 lbs by themselves. Any bigger, you need to get some backup.
My dogs usually have bigger dogs with them when we go hog hunting.
I am not a patterdale terrier guru, but I do know good rough hunting dogs when I see them, and a good patterdale terrier is just that. I would like to thank Mr. Randy Fox and my friend Doug Nirider, for the dogs I have. Mr. Nirider told me this female was his pick of the litter and she has proved to be everything that he said she was. I have two good dogs from two good dog men... go figure that one out.
I started this blog just to meet people that share my interest in real patterdale terriers. I also don't know how to post pics of my dogs on other peoples forums so my wife made this for me so people could see my dogs, etc.
I kill bugs and varmits for a living... I'm not a computer guru.
Feel free to ask any questions about my dogs.
Good or bad, I will tell you the truth.

Thanks,
 Lael
